

What Is Flash on Molded Brake Rubber Parts?
During rubber molding, a thin layer of excess material may appear along the edge or parting line of a finished component. This excess rubber is called molding flash.
A small amount of flash can be a normal result of the molding process. However, its location, thickness, and shape must be controlled because excessive flash may affect installation, sealing contact, or product appearance.
Brake rubber parts are produced by placing or injecting uncured rubber compound into a heated mold. Pressure forces the material to fill the mold cavity before vulcanization creates the final shape.
